D Magazine Partners offers a variety of internships each semester (fall, spring, summer). If you are looking to gain invaluable real-world media industry experience, you’ve come to the right place.
Each internship position is a different learning experience, but nevertheless, what you will gain from working with our company is a road map for your future career endeavors.About our program
Working in the media industry is a fast-paced environment. Qualified candidates for our program must be able to work under demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, as well as possess excellent computer, communication and organizational skills. The D Magazine Partners internship program is highly competitive, and our interns are held to a high standard. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and available to work a minimum of 12 hours a week and commit to the full term of the semester. The D Magazine Partners Internship program is unpaid.
The summer internship application deadline is Friday, April 21. The internship program will start Wednesday, May 24 and end on Wednesday, August 9.

EDITORIAL/JOURNALISM INTERNSHIPSD Magazine Editorial Intern
If glossy magazines give you a thrill, this is the internship for you. D Magazine editorial interns are smart, reliable, detail-oriented, talented, and curious. We’re looking for good writers and reporters who aren’t afraid to pick up the phone. Interns work closely with print staff to make every issue as perfect as possible, and primary responsibilities include fact-checking articles, covering local events, blogging, and working on projects for other departments and publications as availability and interest permits. Especially successful candidates will have an interest in pitching and writing for the front of the book section. You’ll discover the glamorous—and sometimes not-so-glamorous—side of publishing, and gain tons of real-world magazine experience along the way.D Magazine Business Editorial Internship

We need an energetic, smart, organized, reliable, and creative intern with an interest (or experience) in design, fashion, and weddings. If you have an interest in blogging, even better. The intern’s primary responsibilities include: writing, pitching ideas, and taking photos for our two blogs; fact-checking copy for our magazines; uploading events and trunk shows to the events section of the website; picking up and dropping off items for photo shoots; assisting editors with photo shoots; and writing small blurbs and entries for our magazines. If you like food and, most importantly, writing about it – this is probably your dream internship. We’re looking for a top-notch writer for SideDish, D Magazine’s popular food news blog. You must be organized, self-motivated, and interested (or have experience) with food blogging. Photography skills are preferred, but not an absolute must. You’ll be spending most of your time entering dining events into our directory system, covering some of those events, writing at least two blog posts per week, interviewing chefs/restaurant industry people/etc., and helping us out with small projects as needed. This internship is a real opportunity to participate in the launch of new publications and gain a lay of the land view of the publishing world. This intern will have the opportunity to build a portfolio by writing stories for print and web, as well as gain invaluable transcription, fact-checking, and proofreading experience. There may be opportunities to perform editorial research, attend planning meetings, lay out magazine components within an established template, and work on other editorial and administrative tasks. Research and writing are major components of this internship; however, interns also assist the web editorial team in updating the site’s directories. We’re launching a new website called Dallas Innovates, which has a mission to promote the region as a hub of innovation. A collaboration of the Dallas Regional Chamber and D Magazine Partners, the site covers everything innovative in social, creative, education, startups, enterprise, and inventions. Our intern will be writing posts, attending events, helping with social media, attending video interviews, and searching for content. He or she will also help with the technical side of things (uploading posts, resizing photos, and a little editing). We’re looking for a writer who loves telling stories about the people and companies who are new, now, next. We need someone who takes direction well, keeps organized, and takes the initiative on projects. And since we’re a startup, we’re looking for that creative individual who can adapt as we grow.
ART/PRODUCTION INTERNSHIPSD Magazine Art/Production Intern
Learn how we make those glossy magazine pages look so good and get practical experience along with some great samples for your portfolio. You will be working closely with art and production teams on design, photo shoots, and prepress. Interns will assist in photo research, page layout, and archiving magazines. As the web photographer for dmagazine.com, you’ll get to take photos for all of D’s online communities (SideDish, FrontBurner, and more). This includes visiting some of the newest restaurants around town, events/parties, and historical Dallas landmarks. The ideal candidate for this position is flexible, organized, responds quickly to emails and text messages, and able to travel to multiple locations in DFW throughout the week. You do have to be open on some weekday evenings and weekends. Turning in your work on tight deadlines is a must. Generally, you’ll be helping us fill our directories, photograph new restaurants/shops, and capture the atmosphere at events. This position focuses on marketing D Magazine editorial content, company/brand news, seminars, and events. Responsibilities will include developing contact lists, working with outside media, fact-checking data, assisting the marketing team with events, and developing creative promotional ideas. As an intern in the advertising department, you will gain first-hand experience in the industry by working alongside our ad directors and executives on client services and business development initiatives for all our publications, including D Magazine, D Home, D Weddings, D CEO and D Online. This internship works closely with marketing and brand departments for special sections and event sponsorship opportunities. The Media Development intern will assist in the print and digital launch of a new group of business publications published by D Custom, and will play a role in the development and implementation of its marketing, business development, and public relations plan. Thinking like an entrepreneur is a large part of this internship, which feeds on multiple tasks and projects.You will have the opportunity to help research, evaluate, and implement new business ideas. Interaction is with all departments, and will include some vendors and advertising clients. D Custom Editorial Intern
Content may be king, but we made content before it was a thing. Blogs, social media, podcasts, video, magazines — you name it. You’ll play a key role in producing a variety of content for a client base consisting of major global brands. The ideal candidate must be an organized multi-tasker, possess impeccable verbal and written communication skills, and be eager to learn the art of wearing many hats — not to mention willing to drink copious amounts of coffee. Daily responsibilities include assisting with clients’ daily needs, managing projects both day-to-day and long term, and proofreading and editing content. Through this internship, you will learn how to manage both internal and client needs to get work done and create content.
